November 27th, 2008What Do They Have In Common?
“If your daily bread is less than orgasmic, you are missing out on both food and sex.”
~ the WiseFool
What do food and sex had in common? Answer: Everything!
Anyone who offers such an answer to such an intriguing question either knows too much or knows nothing at all. About food and sex, that is. The truth, in my case, falls somewhere in the middle. Let’s just say that I know just enough to have your attention.
That said, question still remains: What exactly do food and sex have in common? To answer that question, all you need to do is listen to yourself talk, especially when your cheeks are flushed and you’re feeling all bubbly ‘n happy. If you can’t remember the last time you were truly happy, try eavesdropping on all those other “happy” people the world seems to be so full of.
You might hear stuff such as this:
“Ooh, what a delicious kiss!”
“I tell you, the food at this place is simply orgasmic.”
“She’s so hot I could gaze at her all day.”
“He’s tough on the outside, but his heart’s like butter.”
“Honey, I love you.”
“Oh, what a sweet-heart you are!”
“I love you so much, I could eat you up!”
“You just pour it on thick, don’t you?”
“Still sowing your wild oats, yeh?”
I could keep going, but you get the idea. Still wondering if food and sex have anything in common?
Food and sex have so much in common that they look nothing like the other. So much in common that we see none of it. So much in common that we often substitute one for the other.
These primal urges are so intertwined in our daily verbiage that we may be like fish in water: We are so surrounded by it that we don’t see it at all.
Indeed, when it comes to food and sex, I say to you: You could not make two things in life more alike if you tried. If you’re still not convinced, that’s quite alright — for we have the rest of the book to find out.
So crack your pistachios, and listen up.
